November 13th, 2013 - India goes to Mars!

Indian Space Research Organisation
India launches the first "low budget" Mars orbiter mission.

On November 13th, India's MOM (Mars Orbiter Mission) took off successfully. It is the first "low-budget" mission to mars, considering its $72 Million costs compared to the NASA average of about $600 Millions. Its scientific scope is limited, if compared to other's missions, but we must also consider the underlying economic situation of India. Nevertheless a new orbiter is trying to reach the Mars planet, and we really wish him a nice trip! The Indian effort must be read as a significant change in today's approach to space missions: space is not a military battlefield  anymore, it is going to be owned by Nations and Businesses for a global benefit.
